“Our people learn on the dock, not at a desk. Putting onboarding on their phones, in their language, changed how quickly they feel confident on the floor.”
Northwind Freight onboards drivers and warehouse staff in their own language, on their own phones.
A regional carrier replaced binder-based orientation with role-based onboarding paths in four languages, delivered on mobile between shifts, with an AI tutor answering safety and procedure questions around the clock.

What Northwind Freight was up against.
Northwind hires hundreds of drivers and warehouse associates every quarter across 14 depots. Orientation ran on printed binders and a two-day classroom session that depot supervisors delivered between their regular duties, so quality varied from site to site.
Roughly a third of new hires speak Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole as a first language, and very few sit at a desk. Safety procedures were translated inconsistently, and new hires hesitated to ask supervisors basic questions twice.
HR could not see who had finished which module until a supervisor sent in a signed sheet, which made it hard to prove that safety training happened before someone operated equipment.
